Medical Properties Trust Appoints Senior Legal Counsel

Medical Properties Trust, Inc. (the “Company” or “MPT”) (NYSE: MPW) today announced that Leanne McWilliams will join the Company as Senior Legal Counsel, reporting directly to Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer, Edward Aldag, Jr. In this critical role, Mrs. McWilliams will oversee the Company’s legal organization, including corporate governance, securities law, transactional law, and government affairs.

Mr. Aldag said, “We are thrilled to welcome Leanne back to MPT. Leanne’s legal expertise, coupled with her deep understanding of our business model, will enable her to effectively lead our legal organization as we pursue a wide range of strategic initiatives moving forward.”  

Mrs. McWilliams brings broad legal experience from a decade of working with Fortune 250 companies. Most recently, Mrs. McWilliams served as Senior Director and Managing Counsel at Allstate with responsibility for its corporate governance and public disclosure functions, as well as legal oversight of the treasury and sustainability functions. Prior to that, she served as AVP, Senior Counsel at Unum. Mrs. McWilliams spent nearly seven years at MPT before that, serving as Associate Counsel. She earned her J.D. from Birmingham School of Law and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Healthcare Administration from Florida Gulf Coast University.
