SUPPORTING THE BELL CENTER

MPT HELPS BIRMINGHAM CHILDREN WITH THE EARLIEST HEALTH AND EDUCATIONAL NEEDS

MPT provided funding to help build a new, ADA-compliant facility for The Bell Center, an incredible early intervention program for infants, toddlers and children up to age 3.

MPT admires the work The Bell Center does for the children of Central Alabama who have wide-ranging special needs, diagnoses and developmental delays.

Programs involving speech, occupational, and physical therapists and other educational specialists include:

  • Bright Beginnings
Offers one-on-one, hour-long therapy sessions for infants, along with training for parents
  • Little Leaps
Transitions infants into toddlerhood, prepping for preschool with activities and learning in a group setting
  • All About Me
Helps toddlers with language and gross and fine motor skills
  • Listen and Learn
Focuses on children with hearing disabilities
  • Peer Models
Integrates special needs children with typically developing children, who serve as peer helpers and social language models during classroom activities

KEY AREAS OF MPT GIVING:
EDUCATION, HEALTH & SOCIAL AGENCIES

MPT’s financial support helps The Bell Center:

  • Serve 160 students from infants to age 3
  • Operate its new, two-story facility (built with MPT support) that doubled capacity and offers easier access for young children with its wider hallways, an elevator and other ADA-compliant features

MPT also funds a scholarship for one student to attend The Bell Center each year, helping families that couldn’t typically afford such specialized services.

“It’s really, really unique. There aren’t very many places in the country that do what The Bell Center does. Their results are just magnificent.”
