MPT's CEO Named One of “Birmingham's Most Influential Executives”
Birmingham, AL – July 27, 2018: Edward K. Aldag, Jr., Medical Properties Trust’s founder and CEO has been named one of “Birmingham’s Most Influential Executives” by the Birmingham Business Journal.
The honor was announced in the July 27th issue of the BBJ, which has named Aldag to its list of influential leaders for four consecutive years.
A native of Eufaula, Alabama and a finance graduate of the University of Alabama’s Culverhouse College of Business, Aldag conceived the idea of providing much-needed capital to hospitals via long-term sale-leaseback agreements in 2002 and launched the company in 2003. This innovative business model unlocks the value of hospital real estate, which can then be deployed for acquisitions, recapitalizations and facility improvements.
Celebrating its 15th year in business, Medical Properties Trust, Inc. (NYSE: MPW) has become the leading provider of real estate capital to more than 275 hospitals on two continents and the owner of more than 32,000 hospital beds across five countries.
Under Aldag’s leadership, MPT has also grown into a well-respected corporate donor to many worthy causes in Greater Birmingham and beyond. In addition, MPT executives and employees serve actively as volunteers, board members, fundraisers and supporters for a host of community causes, inspired by Aldag’s own example of civic and community involvement.
